If you’re like me, there are a million things fighting for your attention from the moment you wake up. Intruders! Also if you’re like me, most of them live on your phone. And when you wake up in the morning, there they are, screaming at you. Well, I made a few little changes this year, and the difference has been pretty dramatic.

1: Build a wall between you and your intruders: get a good old-fashioned alarm clock. Stop using your phone as your bedside clock. In fact, plug it in as far away from you as you reasonably can.

2: Think about what really inspires you? Books? Nature? Prayer? Exercise? This is important! What would you rather be doing if you didn’t have all of these intruders demanding your attention.

3: When your plain old alarm clock wakes you up in the morning, do at least one of these things before you even think about dealing with the intruders. Who knows… you may end up deciding that the intruders aren’t as fun as you remembered.
